About Tartan Lighthouse
Hi I’m Fran, a qualified and registered Play Therapist. I started my career as teacher’s assistant before becoming a Play Worker and then went on to become a Play Therapist. I lived and worked in Yorkshire, for many years, with children with complex physical and learning needs, ASD, ADHD, neuro diversity and behavioural issues in schools, youth clubs and units.
Play therapy improved children’s emotional expression, enhanced their coping skills, and reduced their anxiety as well as helping children develop social skills, build self-esteem, and resolve emotional barriers.

Being committed to continuing to support vulnerable children and their families I gave up a lovely home, secure employment and pension to move to Scotland and take up a position, at the now closed Notre Dame Centre. There I valued the dual model whereby parents/carers received Guidance and Support in parallel to their child accessing therapy. So it's no surprise that I’m passionate about continuing the dual model and am keen for the Tartan Lighthouse to become a beacon of hope for Children and families in Scotland.

Hello, I’m Kirsti, a qualified and registered Social Worker. I started my career as a nursery nurse before becoming a residential worker and then went on to become a Social Worker. Like Fran I’ve worked in various services including residential and secure units, foster care and adoption with children who have experienced trauma and recognise the need for therapeutic support for both these children and their adults.
I also gave up a secure job and pension (although I didn’t have to move) to take up employment in the Notre Dame Centre. I’m confident the dual model is so beneficial and am excited to be part of Tartan Lighthouse providing services which will support families in addressing trauma, developmental challenges, and behavioral issues.
